Iftar 2019
Al Ain Juniors Nursery conducted a pretend iftar program for the children on 26th May 2019. The children experienced what iftar is. And they enjoyed celebrating with friends, teachers and aunties. And how to perform the prayer too.
Iftar means ‘break of a fast’ also known in English as fatoor, is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. They break their fast at time of the call to prayer for the evening prayer. This is their second meal of the day. The daily fast during Ramadan begins immediately after pre-dawn meal of Suhur and continues during the daylight hours, ending with sunset with evening meal of iftar.
Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadan, and is often done as a community, with people gathering to break their fast together. The meal is taken just after the call to prayer ‘Maghrib’, which is around sunset. Please click here for our newsletter.
